Planning a Event Planner’s Wedding

Planning an event planner’s wedding is a challenge in itself. So when Nandita chose us to plan her wedding, our enthusiastic team took it as an opportunity to learn and in the process create a memorable experience.

Nandita is a meticulous planner herself and we knew the key to getting it right would be attention to detail. We also wanted to ensure that Daniel the groom and his family who were from America experienced an Indian wedding which had restraint and elegance as its hallmark. The couple, innately spiritual, were determined to strike the right balance between tradition and modern elegance.

The Raintree at Taj Westend, with its huge eponymous raintree that magically filtered the sunlight onto the lawns, couldn’t be a more idyllic setting for an intimate wedding on a semi-cloudy morning in December. The mantap draped in gold tissue, speckled with hydrangeas, orchids, lilies and roses in hues of peach, lavender and white was linked to its natural surroundings by intertwining tree-twigs with the flowers. Ivory fabric and flower garlands suspended from the ancient rain-tree’s branches and the floral strings entwining its trunk gave the garden a heavenly ambience. The central aisle covered in shades of rose petals and framed with floral vases made for a perfect entrance for the bride. Adorned in theme specific pastel finery, the couple looked graceful.

Lunch was served at the Blue Ginger Lawns where traditional flowers like marigold, tuberose and lotus lent the place an ethnic feel. Accompanied by the sitar, tabla and santoor the instrumentalists celebrated the love in the air with their composition.

The reception was held later that evening in the Regency hall at the Windsor Manor where the theme revolved around romance and royalty. The hall already ornate and royal meant we kept the couple’s backdrop simple and elegant. The grand centrepieces in shades of Marsala and red roses completed the regal look.

As if they had just walked out of a Bond movie, Daniel in his white suit and Nandita in a luxurious deep red velvet gown looked resplendent. Toasts were made by friends and family and a delicious cake with ivory fondant and gold detailing was cut. A solo guitarist performed some of the greatest love songs ever, to set the dance floor aflame.

Planning this wedding was a memory to treasure because of the two lovely protagonists and their dream wedding.
